Luminess (formerly Jouve), a committed company, is strengthening its eco-responsible and solidarity-based approach

Paris, 07/10/2021 - The CSR policy is a strong axis of the strategy of Luminess (formerly Jouve), a factor of attractiveness and commitment for our employees. As a responsible digital player, we are constantly asking ourselves how we can amplify our approach. Two eco-responsible and solidarity initiatives were carried out this month: part of the operational computer equipment was redistributed to the Group's teams in France. At the same time, the Group distributed the obsolete part of its mobile fleet, during an operation organized by the CCI Mayenne and Orange. On the strength of this important CSR anchoring, Jouve is stepping up actions in this direction through two new eco-responsible and solidarity-based initiatives.

This year, the management of Luminess decided to offer IT equipment that can no longer be used by the company but is functioning, to all the employees of the Group's sites in France. The teams of Mayenne, Lens, Rennes et Paris were offered desktop and laptop PCs, screens, smartphones, Imacs and Macbooks, etc. Everyone had the opportunity to choose from the equipment available. This unprecedented operation enabled more than 70 people to benefit from computer equipment in good condition, thus giving it a “second life”. Those that have not been distributed will be handed over to an integration workshop responsible for dismantling the equipment and recycling the various materials.

At the same time, the Group joined an operation organized by the CCI Mayenne and Orange by providing its fleet of obsolete mobiles*. This project contributes to the development of an integration workshop in France, a member of the Emmaüs movement, which checks the condition of the mobile. If it is in working order, the personal data is erased, the mobile tested, reconditioned, then resold in an emerging country as a second-hand mobile. Otherwise, the mobile is recycled, the hazardous materials treated and the metals recovered. The profits from the operation will be donated to Emmaus International, which uses these funds to create, in partnership with Orange, mobile phone waste collection workshops in various African countries. Invited to participate in the operation, employees followed the company by bringing their personal smartphones. Thus, nearly 150 mobiles and tablets were collected.

Ethics, trust and responsibility form the basis of our CSR approach. It is reflected in particular by our desire to be a responsible digital player, but also in the well-being of our employees and respect for our customers and suppliers. Our CSR approach gives meaning and momentum to all of our actions.

These initiatives, far from being isolated, are part of a broad CSR policy. Indeed, at the height of the health crisis, the Luminess teams had already contributed to a kitty for the benefit of charities in Madagascar where the Group is established. At the end of 2020, they had also participated in a running challenge in favor of the Restos du Coeur. At the same time, the Group introduced no-email Friday, prompting the teams to limit the sending of emails and to favor other types of exchanges when possible. To be a major player in the responsible French digital ecosystem, a challenge that all Luminess teams strive to meet on a daily basis.

* According to the eco-organization Ecosystem, around 100 million mobile phones “sleep” in the drawers of the French.
