AI Challenge & West Data Festival: when artificial intelligence optimizes production

A combinatorial optimization challenge for data science students

Le West Data Festival 2025 marked a high point for the community of data science and artificial intelligence en Mayenne. Among the key events of this edition, the AI Challenge, that brightness organized in partnership with theESIEA, tested the students' skills through a technical hackathon!

During three weeks, the participants worked on a concrete problem: optimize operator schedules on production lines thanks to algorithms ofcombinatorial optimization and constraint programming.

AI for optimizing industrial processes

Optimizing production schedules is a major challenge in the industry. Thanks to artificial intelligence and operational research techniques, it is possible to improve efficiency, reduce costs and optimize the use of resources.

Le AI Challenge allowed students to apply advanced approaches, including:

  • Constraint programming and combinatorial optimization;

  • Using specialized Python libraries : Pandas, OR-Tools, PuLP;

  • Data-driven methodology and complex problem solving.

Congratulations to the winners of the AI Challenge!

Congratulations to the winners of the AI Challenge : Amine Rostane, Augustin Logeais and Gael Garnier! Their innovative approach and mastery of optimization tools allowed them to stand out among many participants.

Thank you also to all the students for their commitment and creativity throughout this competition.

Artificial intelligence and optimization: what are the challenges for tomorrow?

AI and the data science open up new perspectives for industrial optimization. Whether it is logistics, supply chain, inventory management or resource planning, the opportunities are numerous.
